Important information and regulations regarding Florida Shark Regulations.
Sharks regulations are divided into two main categories:
Harvestable Sharks and Prohibited Sharks.
Harvestable Sharks are broken down into 3 groups:
Group 1: No Minimum Size Limit
- Atlantic Sharpnose
- BlackNose
- Bonnethead
- Finetooth
- Smooth Dogfish and Florida Smoothounds
Group 2: 54” (fork length)
- Bull
- Nurse
- Spinner
- Blue
- Oceanic
- Whitetip
- Porbeagle
- Thresher
Group 3: 83” (fork length)
- Shortfin Mako
The daily limit is one shark per angler.
When it comes to Prohibited sharks, there’s some important things to remember.
The shark must remain in the water with its gills submerged.
They must also be released without delay, so if hook removal will delay the release, cut the hook or leader as close as possible.
It’s important that you follow all Florida Shark Regulations.
